The Engineering Club at Doane Academy was started in the 2010-2011 school year when Eric Blow and Ben Gross approached Doane’s new teacher, Mr. Russell, with the idea. In the first year the members of the club completed various engineering projects including throwing pumpkins across the soccer field with trebuchets and racing down the Delaware in cardboard boats. The goal of the club was to teach Doane Academy students about engineering and how to face problems head on by using fun projects that also allowed the students creativity to shine. Thanks to Mr. Russell, the first year was a great success!
