Pumpkin Launch: In November 2010, Doane Academy's Engineering Club held their first annual Pumpkin Launch. The launch consisted of trebuchets and slingshots. Students had about 6 weeks to build their pumpkin launcher. Some of the launchers shot pumpkins up to 120 ft. Brett Keay's team won the distance contest and Ms. Mazar's team won the accuracy contest. It certainly was an amazing event. The next one is Saturday, October 15 from 3:00pm- 4:00pm!
Cardboard Boat Race: In May 2011, Doane Academy’s Engineering Club held their first annual Cardboard Boat Race. Students took up to 6 weeks for the students to accumulate a bunch of cardboard and build a boat that could sail on the Delaware River. The race happened during Doane Academy’s Grandparents Day. The students raced against the clock to see who could make it to the marker and back. Frank Punzi's team won the overall race and Jermall Keel's team won the race to the marker. Even though some of the boats sank, it was so much fun to watch them race!
